Utah wins Rocky Mountain Invitational
For the second year in a row, the Utes took first place our annual Rocky Mountain Invitational, hosted at our own HPER Natatorium. We hosted more teams than ever before, welcoming teams from Utah, Colorado, Montana, California, and Oregon. The Utes proved to be a force to be reckoned with at Nationals this year, and we are working hard to place in the top 10 in North Carolina this April.
We had lots of fast swims and records broken at RMI, including the following:
Avery Updegrove, Julia Bandoni, Caroline Luman, and Aleah Griffin: 400 Medley Relay (4:11.29)
Caroline Luman: 200 Backstroke (2:13.67), 50 Butterfly (27.61), 200 IM (2:13.83), and 400 IM (4:42.11)
Nick Skorut, Ian Neville, John Wagner, and Harrison Trent: 200 Medley Relay (1:35.59) and 400 medley relay (3:31.42)
Ian Neville: 50 Breaststroke (27.35) and 100 Breaststroke (58.36)
Cameron Wright: 200 Breaststroke (2:18.65).
The Executive Board wants to recognize several swimmers as Swimmers of the Meet.
First, the Men's Swimmer of the Meet is Harrison Trent, who battled through a rough shoulder injury but was able to power through to help all four men's winning relays.
The Women's Swimmer of the Meet is Caroline Luman, who reset 5 women's records at the meet, and won every individual event she swam!
Finally, Abby Leishman and Daniel Paulson are our final Swimmers of the Meet for showing so much team spirit at the meet! They kept the atmosphere lively and celebrated every teammate's swim like their own!
